Jaypore Open House: An Exciting New Journey

We began our journey with an idea – to showcase beautiful Indian craft with a contemporary flourish online. And we’ve been bringing you some of the most alluring pieces from all over the country.

But the nature of craft is such that it demands to be experienced. You’ve always asked us where you could experience our handcrafted pieces. With The Jaypore Open House we decided to bridge the gap between what you see online and how our pieces feel in person.

We opened the doors to this sensorial showcase in New Delhi first – the city where it all started. For three days, the best of our handcrafted apparel and jewelry was displayed at Aga Khan Hall. We were nervous, we didn’t know if you’d show us the same love as you show us online. But you walked in as soon as we unlocked the doors. You loved our apparel and silver, slipped into the juttis and footwear, asked for more sarees and hopefully left as beaming with a smile as big as ours.

But you walked in as soon as we unlocked the doors. You loved our apparel and silver, slipped into the juttis and footwear, asked for more sarees and hopefully left as beaming with a smile as big as ours.

We then moved to Mumbai and Bengaluru, where you showed us the same love, left us with ideas of what we need to do next, what we need to do better. And we can’t stop beaming.

If you’ve loved Jaypore, you know our love for crafts doesn’t end at just exhibiting it – we’ve always been champions of experiencing them, celebrating the artisans and the culture that’s so intrinsic to India.

Which is why we organized a saree draping workshop with saree scion Rta Kapur Chishti in Delhi and a DIY block printing session with Shyamala Rao in Mumbai. Because to love craft, is to live craft.

And you participated enthusiastically (even though we had limited seats), giving us feedback about what you loved and how we can do better and above all, telling us how much you’ve waited to see us offline.

You’ve written to us from Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Dubai, Singapore and even Toronto. And we promise you we’re going to be in each city soon. This last week we met up with the warm and wonderful people of Kolkata at the Indigo Sutra and now we’re getting our trunks ready for a trip to Chennai. And we’re bringing you our finest block-printed apparel, sarees, jewelry and accessories that you’ve loved seeing on our website. We’ll be at Amethyst, Whites Road, Royapettah on November 17, 2017, all day long.
